I like your completeist urges though. What are some Weatherall RIYL/similar stuff? Definitely digging The Orb, KLF, others.. looking for those crunchy house grooves, the kind where the tamborine, open high hat, triangle, and other perc in super-compressed sample all blend into a glorious crunchiness.

Looking forward to continuing my aesthetic education with you.hterepkahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14569970106373148318noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6408194908462305523.post-6624269272700060562011-06-10T23:02:51.447+01:002011-06-10T23:02:51.447+01:00Do it ctel. Maybe we should just do all the remixes, in order, from the start...

Henry-I've posted all of those already. I went so far as to order that Finitribe LP, and I was disappointed in the rest of the disc as well as the shorter edit of 101 that's on the "Unexpected Groovy Treat" LP. Though they do have a cool cyber-utopian thing going on that's appealing in the current climate..

Other favorites of mine are Weatherall's Perpetual Dawn remix, his Jah Wobble/ Bomba remix, and the "World in Motion" Weatherall/New Order thing.

Thanks again for your enthusiasm and expertise - see you 'round the interwebs!hterepkahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14569970106373148318noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6408194908462305523.post-58284604088948102182011-06-10T19:23:56.708+01:002011-06-10T19:23:56.708+01:00Thanks for popping in Henry. Try Weatherall's remix of Finitribe '101 Sonic Shuffle' for deep bass and lovely crunch.Swiss Adamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13119322217065850020noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6408194908462305523.post-19600886765144138782011-06-10T15:16:41.431+01:002011-06-10T15:16:41.431+01:00I just got my record player hooked up a couple wee...I just got my record player hooked up a couple weeks ago and decided to get some stuff off discogs - so I got this and Substance (the other Bocca Juniors single). I prefer Raise I think - that Piano is huge!

I'm feeling like Hugo Nicholson's engineering was a huge part of the Weatherall sound in 89-91. Has he done other stuff with those deep bassy grooves and that lovely crunch that all these vintage Weatherall tracks have?

Love the blog! Keep up the great postings!

Henryhterepkahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14569970106373148318noreply@blogger.com
