This sounds like one of those songs that is going to soundtrack summer, that should be blaring out of car windows rolled down at traffic lights and piped out from shop doorways and bars- an incredibly funky, smart and sexy song from Roisin Murphy celebrating going out, dancing and general good times for all. This is from one of a series of four 12" singles Roisin is putting out (at nearly 20 quid each they are a tad pricey mind). This is very, very good however and works well played before or after yesterday's Gabe Gurnsey song.
Yep. The Vinyl Factory are always expensive. Don't know why they think they can charge double. I've only just accepted that the average 12" single costs around a tenner now.
They try to justify it by the use of the presses or something. I have had a couple of VF pressed records that have sounded less than perfect and I know that some of the Burial/Massive Attack collaboration from a few years ago sounded dreadful.
You can keep your hipster vinyl, I'll find in 0's and 1's...but it's very good to see music releases are picking up for the summer. I'm about to give my mid year listening report, and my Playlist is markedly lighter that this time last year...
old school Shriekback rhythm vibe going on. tasty.
ReplyDeleteIt's good but not worth twenty quid. I may have to stop buying new vinyl if prices keep going north the way they are.
ReplyDeleteA score for a 12"??? That really is taking the proverbial urine!

ReplyDeleteWell, this post about a summer anthem has taken a turn, hasn’t it? With the gallery on the price, but a great song nonetheless. Thanks, Adam.
ReplyDeleteWell done Brian. It is all about the music.
