Endgame?

Given all the goings on with Megaupload and the such it possibly shouldn't be a surprise that I've just logged into my Mediafire account and found every mp3 file gone, the last month's songs. They've wiped the lot, including the files for the posts for tomorrow and Wednesday. Anyone else affected by this? Is it worth re-upping them? Switch filehost? Give up? Go legit?
Answers on a postcard...

Edit; I don't know if it's just me that's lost all my Mediafire files, if it's deliberate by them or what. A random look shows some other people's Mediafire files still working. I don't know what's going on. I've uploaded the songs for the next two posts using 4shared as I already had an account there. I'll look into Boxnet soon (although Ally reports they've deleted files from her account), and wait to see what happens with Mediafire. I'm tempted to upload some stuff using Mediafire and see what happens. The last months' worth of posts' links have gone and I can't be arsed to re-up them at the moment through another filehosting service. If anyone wants anything desperately let me know and I'll see what I can do.

  1. Sorry to hear that SA. My boxnet account appears to be ok. I wouldn't give up but how would you go legit?

  2. I suppose just by featuring stuff I get sent and/or using Soundcloud or similar. Not sure I ant to do that, certainly don't want to just do posts on stuff that turns up in my inbox.

  4. That's a bit shite SA. I had a file or two auto-deleted from them a year or so ago, nothing as draconian as your exp though. Box.net is loads better anyway, as I believe we have discussed here previously. Sorry to hear 'bout what's happened though :(

  6. Don't understand most of that.

However, I do know that a blog world without you would be like Victoria without Albert.

  7. Do you have a free mediafire account or a paid-for one?

  8. Go for BoxNet, SA .... I would think it's rather comfortable. I have no idea though how their future politics are as far as deleting files is being concerned.

  10. I've just lost loads of files from fileden and so started using mediafire which has been fine. I'll look at boxnet too, I think. The only time I paid for a filehosting account was at e-z-archive, immediately before the great e-z-archive catastrophe of 2006. Not doing that again.

  11. Don't blame you, I wouldn't pay for it either if I wasn't using it to distribute my own music. I'll be keeping an eye on it over the next few weeks, but will be more than slightly pissed off if any of my files disappear.
