This EP from 2016 came my way back in December, four tracks by Hugh Mane on an EP called Control Drama. Hugh Mane, I realised eventually, is a play on words, and the person credited with writing the tracks is one M. Gilbert but other than that I know little. However the person responsible for these four slices of is clearly someone with a background in house, acid, cosmische, and expert knowledge in the space of dub and the timing of techno. The four tracks sit somewhere in a sweet spot between all of these but somewhere else too- an intersection of soulful, laid back, slow motion loveliness, decorated with bird song and warm synth melodies. It's dance music in its origins but definitely designed for home listening as much as out. Get the EP here.
