Liz Fraser's voice, whether with The Cocteau Twins or guest appearances with other artists, is a unique, almost miraculous thing. Trying to describe it is fairly pointless. It swoops and soars and has a magical, otherworldly quality. Sometimes it's gossamer thin, distant and a part of the shimmering, hazy swirl of the Cocteau Twins records, the lyrics difficult to work out and impressionistic. Sometimes it's much bolder and in the foreground, clear and insistent. I've been listening to this since the weekend. As you say, trying to describe Liz Fraser's voice is fairly pointless, but how it makes you feel? Something else altogether.
Even when the lyrical content is decipherable and heartbreakingly emotive, I still feel hugely uplifted by her voice. Her voice pretty much defines the word beautiful.
The prospect of new songs as/with Sun's Signature is thrilling, to say the least.
