Timing Belt
My car spluttered out of life on Friday morning. I got in it to drive to work, turned the key and it turned the engine over, growled and then died. I thought it was just a battery problem. The men at the garage down the road disagreed, telling me that the timing belt had sheered off causing all manner of problems and damage to the engine. Fixable but expensive, more than the car was worth. The scrapyard would give me fifty quid for it though. Fucking fuck.
On the same day the latest instalment of Andrew Weatherall's monthly radio show for NTS came online. Predictable? Me? Two hours of the usually unexpected treats including two remixes of his own Convenanza songs (by Duncan Gray and Sons Of Slough), for a remix album due out next month. That's your Sunday morning sorted.

My sympathies regarding the car, I this day and age you would think they could develop a timing belt tha would last the lifetime of a car, as it is such an expensive thing to fix and causes so much damage when it fucks up.
Sorry to hear about the car Adam. Another Weatherall show already? I feel more expense coming on.
As The Swede said - sorry to hear about the car Adam. The same happened to me years ago and I got angry about the price I had to pay to fix it again. That is one reason I sold my car almost a year ago. And I feel good to use public traffic or walk the short ways in my town. Anyway, to listen to Andrew's newest show might be something to forget your worries for a few hours.
So sorry to hear that too, Adam. Always amazes me when the cost of fixing a car is more than the car is worth (thank god doctors don't think the same way about patients..) Good luck from here on!
Car troubles are frustrating. You have my deep sympathy.
Thanks all. C'est la vie. In an instance of rock n roll cool it looks for the next few weeks I will be driving the mother in law's car.
Sorry about the car SA...I've been in that same boat...timing chain and water pump went on mine, thankfully just after I had gotten off of the highway and I coasted to the side of the road...There may be no more helpless feeling than when you have to sit by your car waiting for a tow truck...
