1960

Gregory Porter asking the pertinent questions about the 1960s, reworked by Opolopo. Jazzy bass, soulful house vibe, Motor City is burnin'. 1960 what?

Talking about the 60s Detroit. You read Cosgrove's book, Detroit 67? Very Good apart from the lack of editing.

No. Picked it up the other day but left it in the bookshop. It's on my list but I've got a pile of books to get through at the moment

Morning, this is the first time I've been able to look at the blog for a few weeks. Working from home today, ordinarily the work comp is blocking you for 'adult and sexual content'. I wondered if you'd gone all dirty.

Love this. First time I heard it, thanks to a friend putting it on a CD for me but without a track listing, I had no idea who it was and I could hardly believe it was contemporary.

Always glad to see some love for Gregory Porter. I'm sure his Disclosure single will revive his exposure, but he's one of the faithful standard bearers of that particular Jazz/Funk/House sound that I hold so dear. When you music is as classic as this, it lends itself to some amazing remixing and reinterpretation just because it's so strong. I can recommend Claptone's groove laden remix of Liquid Spirit as an example.

Simon- that's interesting, apart from the odd nipple or four lettered word there isn't really any adult or sexual content here. Sorry to disappoint you.
