Breakfast Muff

Standing at the counter at Monorail in Glasgow on Saturday waiting to buy my records I scanned the rack of 7" singles on display behind the counter. The first one my eyes landed on was by a group called Breakfast Muff. Which made me smile through my hangover- I'm just glad there is a band called Breakfast Muff. I asked the man behind the counter when he came back with my vinyl what they sound like. He pointed at the sleeve...

'They sound like that' he said. And they do too.

Raucous, scratchy, unruly and opinionated DIY guitar rock from a trio of youngsters, one male and two female, from Glasgow.

I should have picked that up, it's rather good.

I must have been drinker than I thought. I don't remember you taking all these photos. L especially liked the one emphasising my bald spot!

Ha! I didn't spot that until after I'd posted it.

I quite like that Adam but glad it wasn't being played on Saturday morning

Wouldn't have hit the spot on Saturday morning. That was no time for breakfast muff.

Whoa. Ear splitting. Reminds me a bit of Deerhoof. Great name. Funny when you said it on Saturday, and now the name seems completely appropriate.

Glasgow v Edinburgh rivalry
Just seen a tweet by an Edinburgh band Fistymuff

That would be a good double header. Trying to think of a better double entendre...

I come from Donegal in Ireland and 10 min down the road just on the border with NI is the village of Muff. During the summer they have a festival and without a doubt as you drive past the giant sign for the Muff Festival there will be people grinning in front of it getting their photos taken.

Now we have 2 bands to co-headline the Muff festival. Pussy Riot should play to. Pussy Galore could reform.
