Miami

This remix of Baxter Dury's Miami is going to be released on Record Shop Day. RSD has become redundant, some limited edition releases to be fought over once the eBay scalpers have pillaged the racks plus a load of unasked for reissues. Yes, there are one or two things I'd like. No, I won't be queuing up to get into a record shop.

Miami is from Baxter's album that came out last year, that I meant to listen to and didn't get around to. This expansive, electronic remix with gorgeous sweeping strings, a disco beat and Baxter's seedy, in character vocal scattered about, is a joy, and comes to us from the combined talents of Parrot and Jarvis Cocker.

I highly recommend the album. With this one Baxter has finally tipped over from being perpetually described as 'Son of Ian', to being acknowledged as an extraordinary artist in his own right. I'm off to see him in a few weeks, can't wait.

These strings sure are gorgeous. It's lush yet somehow understated disco, Akin to Street Corner Symphony by Street Corner Symphony.

Excellent, not what I was expecting - love those strings contrasting with his delivery - somehow I've missed out on Baxter up to now!

I got his previous album but for some reason missed the latest- think in came out in a bit of a glut of new releases.

One of the best songs from 2017, this track begs to be encased in a shiny rubber suite, tied up, thrown into the back of a 97 Mercury Grand Marquis, parked outside a Drag Disco and and then dumped on the sands of South Beach with damp bricks of cocaine. Actually, Parrot and Jarvis Cocker did that!

Indeed. So sad how it's all gone pear-shaped so quickly.

RSD is dead, it was fun but jesus look at the lists. New music is being held up for Erasure re-releases for fuck sake!
