Monday's Long Song

I posted the Hardway Bros remix of Sparking Plugs by Deo'Jorge last week (the post is here) and at that point hadn't heard the Prins Thomas remix of the same track. Nine and a half minutes of dark, entrancing, sinuous, Scandi- disco is what I'm saying.

Prins Thomas remixes, often titled Diskomiks, are a joy- wiggy, pulsing and inventive versions. His soaring Diskomiks of Kingdom Of Rust by Doves is always a pleasure to hear as is his spaced out bouncy remix of Seahawks with Tim Burgess on vocals, there's a stunning take oo Terr's Tale Of Devotion, a very long one of Kelly Lee Owens's Bird from last year and A Man Called Adam's Paul Valery At The Disco. This one of Alpine by The Orb is very good too, a track I thought was pretty recent but is already five years old.

Allow me to add that the Prins Thomas mix of La Roux's Let Me Down Gently is also fantastic, if you're into that kind of thing

Also when he debuts a long remix the title of your blogpost should surely be 'Big New Prins'

Prins Thomas is brilliant and a semi regular over at the Dubhed blog, including the La Roux remix that Tom W mentions. The first remix of his that I ever heard was with Lindstrøm, the epic Tito's Way by The Juan MacLean. Of the rest you mentioned, I'm only familiar with the Doves one - the definitive version, in my opinion. So many others to recommend, but I especially love his takes on The Grid's Floatation, You'll Disappear by The Phenomenal Handclap Band and - as Major Swellings (arf! arf!) - Kindling For The Master by Stephen Malkmus. His albums are also worth a listen and last year's Træns was a change of pace - for him - but an equally fun listen.

Tom W - "Big New Prins", priceless! Nice one.

The La Roux, as both of you say, is superb.
