Shark Ridden Waters

A creatures of the deep connection today- here's SFA's Gruff Rhys with Shark Ridden Waters, a lovely little piece of Welsh psychedelia from his 2011 solo album Hotel Shampoo. A song that sounds very simple but there's a lot more going on than you might think. Which reminds me- in all of last week's fuss Super Furry Animals released a new single and I haven't heard it yet.

New SFA single's a million miles away from being their best work, but it's still a thousand times more inventive and exciting than certain other comeback singles that appeared last week.

Great picture by the way

One of my fave Gruff songs
Great sample from The Cyrkle's 'It Doesn't Matter Anymore'

Dubroots' assessment of the new Furries single is absolutely spot on! And your assessment of Shark Ridden Waters is also spot on! Well done all round...

Have to agree with Dubroots and The Robster - not SFA's best, but a welcome return. It's one of those songs that can get caught in you brain for hours.

I do love those Gruff solo albums. I wasn't aware of the origin of the sample though - thanks for the info strictlyrockers.
