Under Dub Wood

You gonna love this- Richard Burton reading Dylan Thomas's Under Milk Wood over a King Tubby dub track (all put together by The Dubwood Allstars). 7" single available here. Best thing I've heard today.

Edit- you can't buy the 7". It's out of stock. Unsurprisingly.

Got this a while ago, the other side by the Time and Space Machine is very good as well

It's a brilliant idea and at first I was disappointed about it selling out. But, having listened, I don't think it really works, the track's too warm and too hurried. I'm not mad on the Richard Burton version either to be honest. I've thought about how Milk Wood should be recorded, but not come up with anything much more than that all the breathing noises should be edited out. I think it'd be ideal for The Focus Group to have a go at.

I only heard about it today (via twitter) so haven't heard the B-side. Will go see if it's on the net anywhere.

This is awesome!
I think it would be interesting if some of the words echoed...layers, you know.

Finally got round to listening to this but feel a bit like Tog - I wanted to like it and hey, I like Richard Burton and Dylan Thomas and dub and have actually posted all three on the blog over the years, but I don't think it works..it's too fast and the RB bits are used too unsparingly...dub vocal samples have to be sort of snatches - in big echo like CF says. It's a good idea though...

Carry on.
