How Did It Feel When The Clocks Went Back?

Is just one of the lines in this Baxter Dury song, Pleasure, off his new album. It's a belting little tune, with a nagging 80s electro pop melody and some motorik backing and Baxter's hard won wisdom.

The answer is 'shit' of course. It's always shit when the clocks go back.

yes, it is shot. they say 'you get an extra hour in bed'. I haven't worked that motherfucker out ever. as is testified by my standing here typing inanities at 20 past 8 in the morning.

There is something infinitely depressing about this day. Not helped, in my case, by a monster hangover after being out with a mate to commemorate Peel Day.

We have one more week of waking up in the dark of dawn for work here in The States. Personally, it will be nice to walk the dog in the light again.
As for Mr. Dury, he seems to be on a very good trajectory. Looking forward to this album.

Aye the nights are fair drawing in as we say up here.
We have the worst of both worlds what with dark mornings and dark afternoons what get's me is that you just get fucking used to it and it all changes again. Seasons eh!

The Circadian rhythm issue seems to have become a hot button first world medical issue these days. Here in the states there are 2 different drug companies pushing their cure drugs on the public - in the hopes they will go to their willing doctors to demand to pay for same by prescription. I never knew that a 1 hour change in time zones could make it so difficult.
Now anyone in the northern parts of the Northern Hemisphere is going to feel/see the change in daylight hours more pronouncedly - only makes sense. And maybe the reasons behind the reason we still use Daylight & Standard Time is antiquated. After all it harps back to WW2 and trying to conserve resources.
