In This House That I Call Home

God things are busy this week, hardly got time to organise a thought, nevermind some blogposts- here's a cracking tune from 1981 from Los Angeles punk band X, punky and punkish rather than screaming Californian hardcore. Ragged around the edges and arms aloft.

The song is very melodic and catchy. Not all that punk to me. It is very good though.

I love both their debut and follow up Wild Gift. The latter opened up their sound from the more chaotic debut Los Angeles - mind, that debut is high in my list of all time favorite albums. LA Punk definitely went in a direction I chose not to follow, but X remained fairly true to their sound and vision.

Those early albums were so good that I still root for these guys to this day. I will always find time to at least try new material, and that includes offshoot the Knitters and the solo albums of John and Exene. I have been rewarded many times through the years.
