This is the new single from Dreadzone, with an album Escapades to follow. Dreadzone started life way back in the early 90s as refugees from Big Audio Dynamite and now contain almost all the former BAD members. Going for a BAD Royal Flush this song has Mick Jones on guitar and backing vox and borrows fairly heavily from Department S' 1980 Is Vic There? single. There's a ravey bridge bit too, shoehorned in to great effective. In short, I like it.
Compare and contrast...

Now you mention it...
Thanks for the Department S d/l, Adam. That's one of those all-time-favourite-songs-that-I-don't-have (on record). So ta for that.
And Dreadzone's 1st album 360º is/was excellent (I have that on lovely black plastic, and still play it).
BUT I'm afraid I don't think much of this. Sorry. It's a gigantic lift from Dept S as you say, but not even close its genius.
Also, just to put the final boot in, whilst I watched the YouTube clip one of those v annoying ads came on over it offering 'Punk Grandad T-shirts', further adding to my discomfort.
Yes- punk Grandad adverts would ruin anyone's enjoyment.
While the Is Vic There? lift is beyond inspired by and deserving of co write credit, the song has enough muscle and "boogie" (for lack of a better word) to make it very listenable...
